As the latecomer to the Directors Notes collective, I thought it was about time that I actually contributed a post to the site before you all start to think that I’m a figment of MarBelle and Miss D’s twisted imaginations (maybe I’m the Tyler Durden of the Directors Notes world).

I would like to start by saying what a great job MarBelle and Miss D have done in starting up the website and getting it running. The content is really beginning to build up nicely and the whole site is taking shape, already containing some really interesting articles. I can already picture how the site is going to develop over its existence and I just got to say, in the immortal words of the Pointer Sisters, “I’m so excited.”

So far my involvement in Directors Notes has included deep discussions with the one MarBelle on all aspects of independent film (and what we actually define as independent), watching lots and LOTS of films, and discovering Miss D’s latest fascination with sponge sucking. I would love to say this has been hard work, but my love for the weird and wonderful world of independent films has so far made this a truly enjoyable start to my input into Directors Notes.

On my part, over the not too distant future, I would like to help to introduce you to independent films that you will hopefully find entertaining and inspirational. Whilst sharing these films with you, I also hope that as filmmakers we can learn and develop from these productions, whilst hopefully picking up new tips and tricks to make our own successful films.

So there it is, my first post. Hopefully there will be lots more coming in the near future…it’s been a while since I’ve actually written anything, so bear with me and hopefully I’ll get up to speed soon. Over the coming weeks I’m going to attempt to introduce you to some of the independent productions that are currently inspiring me to make films and I know MarBelle and Miss D will continue to bring you a wealth of info on all their cool findings.

El Vez is in the building…finally!
