Today’s interview is for a project that certainly falls out of the norm and is unlikely to be repeated or copied anytime soon. With a film that was over 20 years in the making, director Mark Craig’s documentary Talk To Me, is a tour through lives captured by answer phone messages, set to a collage of photographs and ephemera, in one continuous 23 minute take.
Talk To Me (2006)
In 1985, Mark Craig bought an answer machine. He then kept every message it recorded…for 20 years! Talk To Me is a personal journey through life conveyed entirely by real answer machine messages recorded over two decades. Visuals comprise a large collage of photos filmed in one continuous take, with music.
