Sleeping Betty - Claude Cloutier

Lusciously drawn in India ink, Claude Cloutier’s traditionally styled animation of the legendary Charles Perrault fairytale La Belle au bois dormant (Sleeping Beauty to you and I) is anything but conventional. Produced by the National Film Board of Canada, Sleeping Betty is the tale of a princess in a narcoleptic stupor and her family’s desperate and often hilarious attempts to wake her.

Here’s an NFB interview with Cloutier where he discusses his influences and whether or not he’s a ‘funny man’.
