So did you know that all worker bees were female, or that drone bees face a pretty gruesome end after sex? Well you will after watching Isabella Rossellini’s (yes that Isabella Rossellini) charming mixed media series of films Burt Talks to the Bees. The series, commissioned by Burt’s Bees as part of an awareness raising campaign into the plight of the insects (responsible for an estimated one-third of the food on Earth through their pollination activities), sees Rossellini direct and take on several roles including that of the conversational Burt. It’s a delightfully humorous way to bring attention to their plight and may just give you pause when reaching for that rolled up newspaper the next time you hear a buzzzzzzzz.
