Well deserving of the plaudits it’s received on the festival circuit, Victor Carrey’s The Runaway is a stunning cascade of Rube Goldbergesque events wrapped in a web of copious asides explored through brilliantly creative exposition. It’s the perfect reminder that the narrative we follow through films may well be but one strand in a network of interesting, interlinked stories.

About the Author / MarBelle
MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the multi-decade incarnation of this disorder and remains so much cheaper than film school.
