Striving to recreate the magic from what he describes as the golden ages of music videos, where all great promos where easily recognised from just a single frame. Joshua Stocker’s music video (and final proect for his degree at Chelsea College of Art & Design) for Gem Club track I Heard the Party channels the spirits of this prolific era with glorious slow motion cinematography and well-considered lighting. Based around a theme from classic science-fiction, Stocker has certainly achieved his goals and created a film that could happily sit alongside the works of the music video masters – Spike Jonze, Michel Gondry, and Chris Cunningham.
