For a small charge, Directors Notes now guarantees we will view your film within a 7-day period and if it’s something we love we will feature it on our site, on our WeAreDN Vimeo channel, our weekly newsletter and across our social media accounts.
If you’re a regular visitor to Directors Notes, you might have noticed a new addition to the menu bar along the top of our site – the SUBMIT link. We’ve been discussing opening ourselves up for film submissions for a while, and after a great deal of thought and research, we felt like the time was right to take the plunge and give filmmakers an official channel to get their work in front our programming team.
Over the 12-years that Directors Notes has been running, our audience has grown exponentially and with that, the desire for filmmakers to have their work viewed and featured on DN has grown alongside it. In fact, this demand had grown to the point, where it was getting impossible for us to keep up.
We also realised that the route a filmmaker takes to appear on the pages of Directors Notes has been somewhat of an unknowable black box. With that in mind, we’ve decided to make our submission process as straight forward as possible. Just click on that SUBMIT link, read the FAQs carefully and when you’re ready, click on the ‘Submit on FilmFreeway’ button.
By running our submissions process through FilmFreeway, we can track, organise and respond to submitters much more efficiently than we have been (apologies to those of you who sent us messages over social or Vimeo and we never replied) and make sure we never miss a great piece of independent filmmaking again.
We accept short (under 40-mins) and feature (over 40-mins) length submissions, for an idea of the kind of filmmaking we dig, take a look through our Animation, Art & Fashion, Documentary Live Action and Music archives.
We can’t wait to see what you have to show us!
