Has there ever been a film to come out of Supinfocom that’s just been…alright? Nope, I’ve never seen one either – presumably they have a basement full off undergrads clutching their average films that they lock away from the world least it tarnish their flawless record. The latest batch of students to avoid that dark fate are Valere Amirault, Jean Delaunay, Sarah Laufer and Benjamin Mattern, creators of 8bits, an infectiously fun romp through an end boss level 3D world, packed to bursting with gaming references. Being a child of the 80’s I particularly loved the 2D ‘Downgrade’ fight scenes, but even if that’s not your particular bag, you’ll still find plenty to love here.
