It’s the time of year when I get to pretend I’m hard done by; slaving away in darkened cinemas, gorging on the finest films the Times BFI 52nd London Film Festival has to offer. The upside to my valiant sacrifice is that I’m a sharing kinda guy:
My favourite films at LFF this year have included a couple that boldly re-imagine the Spaghetti Western for their own purposes. Quick Gun Murugan sees genre busting director Shashank Ghosh completely smash the traditional form to create a Tamil, effects heavy, comedy romp that I’d have re-watched in a heartbeat given the chance.
Quick Gun Murugun: Misadventures of an Indian Cowboy (2009)
A once-dead vegetarian cowboy is sent back to life to battle a beef-eating villain.
shashank is a brilliant director, his waisa bhi hota hai proves…… waiting to see q g m
