I’m ashamed to admit that my film discovery powers must be in need of a major tuneup, as if I’m only just discovering the work of New York City based director Jack Turits, something’s definitely up.
In an effort to redeem myself may I present Turits’ shorts The Virgins, Girl and Bubbles. Whilst all three films differ in story and tone, they’re united by a confident simplicity, which presents a director confident enough in his script, performances and abilities, to deliver his stories without the assistance of twists, misplaced comedic fumbles or even music.
Now we’ve caught up it’s a sure bet the DN radar will be keeping a close watch for whatever Turits puts out next.
