Feature documentary newcomer Maya Newell’s Gaby Baby is an honest, intimate and groundbreaking look at modern family life. I sat down with Maya at the London Film Festival to find out her motivation behind making the film and how same sex parents deal with the decision to come out when children are involved.
Gayby Baby (2015)
Gayby Baby follows the lives of four kids – Gus, Ebony, Matt and Graham – whose parents all happen to be gay. As they each wrestle with personal change, the outside world wrestles with the issue of marriage equality, and whether or not kids of same-sex families are at risk.
I think that lots of people maybe don’t recognise that children growing up in same sex families have to come out for their families too.
