Riley Stearns’ Magnificat is the story of a young woman tormented by malevolent visions that begin to bleed into reality. It’s a film that would make a perfect opening companion to Mark Jackson’s Without, one of our favourite films from last year’s London Film Festival; with Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Lynn a kindred spirit in isolated delusion.
About the Author / MarBelle
MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the multi-decade incarnation of this disorder and remains so much cheaper than film school.
