Dennis Brucks’ concept movie Bolero creatively plays out its harrowing tale over a dialogue free mix of extreme slow motion and flashback. Dennis joins us to discuss how early story and technical considerations helped him create a distinctive short which reflected his directorial voice.
Bolero (2012)
Love, hope, friendship, and the indomitable human spirit conquer all in this fractured tale about a victimized boy who transcends his miserable life after he meets a girl who lives beyond a vent in the wall, set to Ravel’s “Bolero”.
I tried to use the medium, I didn’t just wanna tell a story. I didn’t just wanna illustrate a narrative.
This short is awesome!
