Adolpho Avril’s agitated experimental short The Mano: The Burning of Wooden Engraved Plates provides a discordant expression of the outsider artist’s personal and obsessive universe. The film was created in partnership with Fabian Dores Pais during workshops at French artist laboratory La “S” Grand Atelier through the repetitive technique of wood engravings which were also burnt.

About the Author / MarBelle

MarBelle has a strange compulsion to watch as many films as he can get his hands on and find jobs that give him a legitimate excuse to drill filmmakers about their work. Directors Notes is the multi-decade incarnation of this disorder and remains so much cheaper than film school.
